River Trekking in Arini Gorge
The Arini Gorge with a length of about 3 kilometers is located near the village of Spilia, 2 kilometers from Areni. The morphology of the ground is such that the Kombori hill almost touches the opposite hill of Spilia and the two appear to be tightly intertwined. From this construction created by nature, a deep, almost impassable ravine was formed since ancient times, probably during the geological period, which reminds the visitor of the admirable gorge of Samaria. Through this narrow ravine pass the waters of the river Anigros, which originates from Mount Minthi and flows into the Ionian Sea. From the heavy winters in the past and the abundant rushing waters of the river, the Geraneia lake was formed at that point, of relative dimensions and depth, in which the young people of the village in the past had also called it a swimming school, because it was where they took their first lessons and the first baptism of the swimmer. They named it Geraneia, because its waters had a dark blue color like the Geraneia mountains of Corinth. However, Gerania continues to be an admirable creation of nature and is worth visiting.

The Neda is a river in the Peloponnese located on the border of the prefectures of Ilia and Messinia. It originates from Mount Lykaios, flows westward and empties into the Ionian Sea, between the coasts of Kyparissia and Zacharos. Its length is 32 kilometers. The river got its name from the nymph Neda. The river since ancient times defined the borders of Ilia from Messinia, as mentioned by Pausanias. Near the banks of the river was ancient Phigalea and the temple of Epicurean Apollo in Vasses. The river in a large part of it crosses a ravine with very rich vegetation. Waterfalls are created along its course. The largest is located near Figalia and is about 35 meters high.
